Sharon O’Sullivan
Sharon O’Sullivan serves as executive vice president, National Advertising Sales, overseeing ad sales and revenue strategies for TLC, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Family and Discovery Life. O’Sullivan was previously the senior vice president, National Advertising Sales for Investigation Discovery, Destination America and Animal Planet.
Sharon specializes in crafting innovative, results-driven solutions for her clients, and has helped identify and develop new ad sales revenue streams for Discovery. Under her leadership, O’Sullivan managed the launch of four new networks and the re-launch of several others. Prior, she served as vice president/national sales manager for several Discovery networks, including TLC, Discovery Health, FitTV, Discovery Home, Discovery Kids, and BBC America.
Sharon reports to Joe Abruzzese, president, advertising sales, Discovery Communications.
O’Sullivan joined Discovery Communications in 1999, as an account executive serving TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel and the emerging networks. Prior, she held sales positions at ESPN, Inc., FX and CBS.
Based at Discovery’s advertising sales headquarters in New York, O’Sullivan received her BS in Marketing from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. In 2015, Sharon was named one of Advertising Age’s ‘Women to Watch;’ in 2012, she was an Adweek ‘Top 50 Influential Player in the Media Industry’; and in 2013 and 2014, she was named one of CableFAX’s ‘Most Powerful Women in Cable.’ She resides in Summit, New Jersey with her husband Danny and their three children, Sam, Olivia and Ronan.
