Dr. Yaser Bishr
Dr. Yaser Bishr is an international Executive, having worked with some of the best known global brands as a software developer and architect, entrepreneur, and academic. Yaser worked in the Netherlands, Germany, and China but spent most of his career in the US. He is currently the Global Executive Director of Strategy and Corporate Development at Al Jazeera Media Network. Yaser is leading the Network’s digital transformation, big data, corporate restructuring, and global expansion. He launched Al Jazeera Turk online service and established the innovation and incubation division, where he led the development and the launch of one of the most successful mobile-first news platforms in the industry – AJ+. Yaser was also Al Jazeera’s CIO where he merged and restructured a 1200 employee organization into a customer-centric, cloud-based service organization.
Prior to Al Jazeera, Yaser was a chief strategist and business development Director at Lockheed Martin, based in the Washington DC, where he led the transformation of its intelligence and cyber business from government focused to commercial.
Yaser holds an MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business where he was honored with the Duke University Scholar Merits Award. He also holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Civil Engineering, an MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
